The beginning of the week saw the WPT Korea kick off at Grand Jeju Paradise Casino. Apart from the Main Event which is traditionally the centrepiece of the series, WPT Korea offers a number of side tournaments, including Head Hunter, High Roller, Monster Stack, NLH, PLO, etc. The tournaments included in the WPT Korea schedule are to qualify players for the Season XVI of the WPT Asia-Pacific Player of the Year competition.
A number of events have already come to an end, such as the WPT Korea High Roller tournament which was taken down by the Singapore Poker Player Diwei “Bryan” Huang, who became the event’s champion and was granted with not only with the largest cash portion of the prize pool, but also with the tournament’s trophy.

The Singaporean poker pro Bryan Huang, who is currently considered one of the top poker players of Asia, was the one who grabbed the WPT Korea High Roller title. He managed to outlast a total players field of 20 entries in order to take home the KRW55.29 million lion’s share of the prize pool and the tournament’s trophy.
By the time he entered the WPT Korea High Roller tournament, Bryan Huang had generated total live winnings estimated to $1,192,601, as well as a biggest live cash amounting to $162,565.
As mentioned above, the player, who started playing poker during his military service, is currently one of the most popular Asian poker professionals and undoubtedly the most successful Singapore poker player. In the period from April to November 2016 he played as part of the Hong Kong Stars in the Global Poker League. Apart from that, Huang is one of the notable players who managed to advance to Day 2 of the WPT Korea Main Event along with Pete Chen, Tsun Ming Chan, Kazuki Ikeuchi, Juicy Li, etc.
WPT Korea Main Event
The WPT Korea Main Event, which is normally the most glamorous and long-awaited event at the series, has already started. The Main Event kicked off on September 26th, offering a buy-in estimated to KRW 1.5 million which is approximately $1,300.
The WPT Korea Main Event is to be held at the Grand Jeju Paradise Casino from September 26th to 30th, with its schedule being divided in two starting flights, two more game days and the final day of the tournament.
