This year’s edition of Winamax Poker Open Dublin Main Event has already seen its third and final day ending, with Otto Richard emerging as winner from the competition.
The 2017 Main Event also accumulated the second-largest players field in the Winamax Poker Open history. This year, a total of 1,069 entrants entered the competition for the first-place prize of €92,000 as well as the special tournament trophy.
This year’s edition of 2017 Winamax Poker Open kicked a few days ago at the Citywest luxury resort in Ireland. This is the eight edition of the Winamax Poker Open so far.
The €550 Main Event of Winamax Poker Open kicked off as a three-day event, offering two starting flights and players were allowed only one re-entry per Day 1. Last year’s edition of the tournament was won by Antonin Teisseire, who received a prize pool portion estimated to €72,000.
Who Is Otto Richard?
The 33-year-old Otto Richard, a French poker player who currently lives in Brighton, was the oldest one at the final table. The Main Event’s winning of €92,000 brought Richard the largest live cash earning in his career so far, and helped him boost his all-time live earnings.
Otto may have re-entered in Day 1A, only to prove there is nothing wrong in second chances. The money bubble burst started early over the third day of the event with Guillermo Sanchez, Jonathan Barusta and the chip leader from Day 1B – Laurent Decauwert – being eliminated from the competition. At this point of the game, it was Matthieu Vincendeau who got the chip lead, but it did not take Teunis Kooij take over as a chip leader.
Before him winning the 2017 Winamax Poker Open Main Event, the largest cash prize ever won by Otto Richard amounted to $65,591 and was generated at the beginning of May 2007, at the time he won the Rendez Vous A Paris 2007 €1,000 NLHE. The player’s total live earnings before he won the Main Event exceeded $209,000.
Over the final day of the event, the players got eliminated one by one, until two French players remained to compete for the Main Event’s title – Otto Richard and Sonny Franco. It was Sonny Franco who remained at the second place of the tournament, getting a prize pool cash portion estimated to €67,000. Lozano Manzanares from Spain became third. He was granted with a €45,000 cash portion for his efforts.
The fourth place in the ranking was taken by Adrien Decramer, followed by Teunis Koolj from the Netherlands. The sixth place was occupied by the Irish poker player Jason Tompkins.
