Sylvain Loosli Emerges Victorious from 2017 PokerStars Pot-Limit Omaha for €236,400

The French poker player Sylvain Loosli emerged victorious from the two-day PokerStars Pot-Limit Omaha event, winning the tournament’s trophy as well as the lion’s share of the prize pool.

Only a few months after ranking third in the PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo €10,300 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Max, Loosli climbed on top of another PLO event following a short heads-up battle against Pedro Zagalo. The French player managed to defeat all his opponents to climb on top of a total player field of 111 entries.

The two big finishes of the player in 2017, as well as the second place he ranked to in the 2016 EPT Dublin €5,300 Pot-Limit Omaha – 8-Handed, have definitely come as a sign that Loosli is a player who is worth watching at upcoming Pot-Limit Omaha events. For the time being, the best live cash generated by Sylvain Loosli amounts to $2,792,533, which he won by ranking fourth in the 2013 WSOP $10,000 World Championship NLHE Event 62. Now, with his latest victory, the French player managed to boost his total live winnings to $6,382,882.

The final table of eight was truly an international one, with eight nationalities being represented. For most of the final table game, the Portuguese player Pedro Zagalo dominated with a chip stack amounting to more than one third of the chips in play. At one time he even held over half of the chip, but Loosli managed to get through, and eventually became one of the two last players standing at the final table of the event.

At the time when Loosli and Zagalo were the only players left around the final table, it was the French player who had the chip lead with a ratio of a little more than two thirds of the chips in play. Unfortunately for him, he lost some ground early at the heads-up play, but the deep stacks helped him out.

At one point of the game, the two of them decided to stop the clock and discuss a possible two-way deal. Under the terms of the agreement, it was Zagalo who got €5,000 more than Loosli, and a €10,000 cash portion and the tournament’s trophy were left to play for. Soon after that, Loosli managed to get a huge lead, after which Zagalo was not able to endanger him in any way and the French player soon became the event’s champion, winning the largest cash portion of the prize pool.

With Sylvain Loosli being crowned as the event’s winner, taking home a monetary prize of €236,400 after a two-way deal, Pedro Zagalo from Portugal remained on the runner-up position. He got a prize pool portion estimated to €231,400. The third position was taken by Shyngis Satubayev, who scooped a prize of €124,900.

The Hungarian player Norbert Szecsi remained fourth, followed by the American Mandy Calara. The sixth position in the ranking was occupied by Oliver Weis from Germany, while Jan Suchanek from the Czech Republic ranked seventh. The eighth position in the ranking was taken by the Brazilian Eder Campana.
