American poker pro Nick Schulman managed to conquer the champion’s title of the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open’s $50,000 Super High Roller event, after first leading the final five and then facing Jake Schindler in a fierce heads-up battle.
The player emerged not only as the crowned winner of the Super High Roller event of the tournament, but also took home a massive monetary prize estimated to $440,000. The guaranteed prize pool’s portion boosted his total live earnings to $9,246,821. The largest live cash of Schulman to date is his first-place prize of $2,167,500 which he generated by winning the 2005 World Poker Finals, Machantucket $10,200 No-Limit Hold’em.
This year, the $50,000 Super High Roller was the event that featured the largest buy-in on the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. The tournament attracted a players field of 19, with 16 unique entries and 3-re-entries, with David Cohen, Giuseppe Iadisernia and Jason Koon using the re-entry option to enter the Super High Roller event twice. The tournament offered a massive guaranteed prize pool of $1,000,000, which was divided between the top four players.
Nick Schulman managed to defeat his last standing opponent Jake Schindler in a heads-up battle, winning the event’s trophy which also brought him the lion’s share of the guaranteed prize pool. This year’s Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open’s Super High Roller attracted some of the most popular names among professional poker players. Apart from Schulman, a WPT Champions Club member and a WSOP gold bracelet winner, the Super High Roller event also saw the WSOP bracelet winners Ivan Luca, David Peters, Josh Arieh and Sam Soverel, the WSOP Circuit ring owner Jake Schindler, SHROP Champions Dan Colman and Jason Koon, as well as the popular high rollers Bryn Kenney and Isaac Haxton.
As Casino Guardian reported yesterday, it was Schulman who got the chip lead at the end of event’s Day 1, with a total of 924,000 in chips. Four other players were left, with Rainer Kempe being at the bottom of the leadership board. Despite that, he was not the first one to leave the final table of five. After losing a massive pot to Jake Schindler, Bryn Kenney became the first one to leave, without getting a cash portion of the guaranteed prize pool.
Soon after that, Ivan Luca was eliminated, occupying the fourth position in the ranking, getting the tournament’s consolation prize of $120,000. Rainer Kempe hit the rail soon after that. The third position brought him a guaranteed prize pool cash portion of $180,000.
The departure of Kempe left only two standing opponents for the Super High Roller’s title. Nick Schulman faced Jake Schindler in a tough battle, which saw Schindler being on the losing side with a stack shorter than his opponent’s. At the end, it was Schulman who got crowned as the winner of the event, leaving Schindler on the runner-up position with a cash prize of $260,000.
