Connor Drinan won the EPT Barcelona High-Roller event and took home a prize of €849,200. The 2016 EPT Season saw a record-breaking €10,300 Buy-in High Roller Event which final day was brought to an end after almost 14 hours.
The event attracted a player field of 591 entrants, only 36 of which made it to the third day tables. The final day started with Julian Stuer as chip leader, with Ilkin Amirov right behind his back. Still, at the end, it was Connor Dinan who won the competition, with Mihails Morozovs finishing at the runner-up position.
The the start of the final day of the €10,300 Buy-in High Roller Event, the eliminations were carried out in quick pace, following one after another. Some of the players who were eliminated over the first level were Georgios Zisimopoulos, Robin Ylitalo, Mike McDonald and Benjamin Pollak. Ivan Luca also left the table, and ranked 27th.
When it comes to the last three tables, Natasha Barbour also busted against Anthony Zinno. Rafael Moraes and Joe Serock, on the other hand, were sent to the rail by Jean Ferreira. The 20th position of the ranking was occupied by Aaron Lim, followed by one more double elimination right before the re-drawal of the last 16 players for the last two tables.
Christopher Frank and Anthony Zinno departed in 14th and 13th place, respectively, after they faced Patrick Leonard, putting him into the lead at the time. Next, players Ferreira and Stuer were eliminated. Jansson, ranked 10th after failing to hold up with a second pair against the hand held by Leonard.
Unfortunately, the latter collapsed in his positions in two big hands against Keranen and Morozovs, respectively, and was eliminated at the 7th place with a prize of €169,700. Pascal Hartmann was left 8th, taking home a total of €124,400.
Joseph Cheong, who finished 6th after another two big blinds, right before the final table. He was granted with a prize that amounted to €233,300. The five players who made it to the final table were Mihails Morozovs, Kyle Keranen, Ari Engel, Connor Drinan and Oleksii Khoroshenin, who won the EPT10 Vienna Main Event. Eventually, Khoroshenin and Engel were eliminated in the fourth and fifth position, respectively.
The last three players standing faced each other in a quick-paced game, which saw Keranen eliminated at the third position with a prize of €496,440. After a heads-up battle, US-based Drinan managed to beat the Latvian Morozovs, boosting his tournament recorded winnings to a total of over $10 million.
