Doug Polk Emerges Victorious from WSOP $111,111 One Drop High Roller

The 28-year-old player Doug Polk managed to reach another milestone in his carrier as a professional poker player. The young American emerged as the crowned winner of the $111,111 One Drop High Roller event and took home a $3,686,865 cash portion of the guaranteed prize pool as well as a WSOP bracelet.

Pasadena, California-born Polk has an impressive poker resume, especially considering the fact he has spent most of his years as an adult to make a living from live poker tournaments. Until now, Polk has managed to generate total live winnings estimated to $8,841,633. With him winning the $111,111 One Drop High Roller, Polk generated his career’s best live cash of $3,686,865. Recently, the young American has been splitting his time between poker games and other projects.

Over the past two years, Polk has been running the training website Upswing Poker, along with his co-founders Matt Colletta and Ryan Fee. He was also paying great attention to his YouTube channel.

Despite the fact that Polk has been spending more time away from the poker table, the American proved he was one of the most promising young stars of contemporary poker. In order to emerge victorious from the $111,111 One Drop High Roller, he managed to overcome a players field of a total of 130 entries. As a result, he not also managed to generate his best live cash, but also grabbed his third World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet.

Polk managed to get to the final table, and later become one of the two last players standing, along with Bertran “Elky” Grospellier. He managed to defeat him heads-up and not only grab the title, the WSOP bracelet and the lion’s share of the guanrateed prize pool, but also won a side bet made before the beginning of the heads-up play.

Polk himself commented on the first-place prize, saying that it was literally huge for him, and this time the WSOP bracelet meant a lot more than the first two ones. The winning was even sweeter for Polk because there were first-class poker players around the final table, and eliminating them all to emerge on top of the list further proved his qualities and talent. Not to mention the fact that some of the most successful poker players such as Nick Petrangelo, Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Hellmuth, Igor Kurganov, Scott Seiver, Byron Kaverman and Dan Colman entered the event, but did not manage to make it to the final day.

With Doug Polk being crowned as the WSOP $111,111 One Drop High Roller winner, taking home a prize of $3,686,865, Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier remained at the runner-up position, scooping a cash portion of $2,278,657. The third place in the final table ranking was occupied by Dario Sammartino, who got $1,608,295 for his efforts.

Haralabos Voulgaris was fourth, followed by Chris Moore who occupied place five. The sixth position in the ranking was taken by Martin Jacobson, while Rainer Kempe occupied place seven. The eighth and ninth positions were occupied by Andrew Robl and Mike Kamran, respectively.
