The PokerStars Championship Panama High Roller event proceeded to its final table with Steve O’Dwyer on top of the list with the remaining competitors, finishing the day with a total of 1,849,000 in chips.
The second day of the High Roller event brought back 52 players, only to see their number narrowing to five after a few hours and 10 levels of play. Now, with only five players who are to compete for the event’s title, some of the greatest names in contemporary poker such as David Peters, Eric Seidel, Mike Watson, etc., are out of the game.
Day 2 started with Sam Greenwood on top of the field. At the beginning of Day 2, the current leader in the ranking started at the middle of the players field, but he soon succeeded in making his way to the top. O’Dwyer managed to secure the lead, gaining on Francois Billard who was very close to finishing first in chips, but eventually remained second with 1,494,000 in chips.
Billard is considered as one of the most serious rivals of O’Dwyer for the first place, as he is chasing his first-ever first-place ranking in a High Roller event. Sam Greenwood, who started Day 2 as the chip lead, is now third with a total of 1,273,000 in chips. Greenwood is also considered one of the main contenders for the event’s title, having taken part in multiple High Roller tournaments.
It was the American poker pro Anthony Zinno who got eliminated in the 6th position, saying goodbye to the chance to remain as part of the final five who are to compete for the PokerStars Championship Panama High Roller event’s title.
Steve O’Dwyer is one of the regulars who take part in High Roller events and competitions, having generated total live winnings of $16,321,831 and best live cash estimated to $1,872,580 to date. O’Dwyer is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the contemporary poker, with a number of first-place finishes in both High Roller and Super High Roller tournaments.
All the remaining five players are poker pros, so the fight for the title and the $274,740 cash prize is expected to be an epic one.
