As a matter of fact, there is a whole plethora of female poker players who have not only found their rightful place among their male counterparts, but also regularly take part in the largest poker tournaments on a global scale. Some of them have managed to win solid amounts of money, and their presence is only getting stronger.

Vanessa Selbst

Vanessa Selbst is beyond any doubt the best female poker player of all times, having won more money in live tournaments than any other woman to date. What makes the contribution of the American to the world of poker even more significant is the fact that she is also the only woman who have ever managed to reach the first position in the Global Poker Index Ranking.

Selbst is part of Team PokerStars Pro. Over the years, she has managed to generate winnings of over $11 million. The American also has three World Series of Poker bracelets, which she has won in open field events.

After winning the PCA High Roller event for $1.4 million back in 2013, Vanessa Selbst also became the highest earning female in the poker history to date.

Annie Duke

The American professional poker player Annue Duke, also known under the nickname “The Duchess of Poker” actually used to be the leading money winner among all female players in the history of the World Series of Poker. Currently, that title is held by Vanessa Selbst, but the contribution of Duke to the poker world and the establishment of female poker players as equal to men is undoubtedly a serious one.

Annie Duke started her career as a poker player relatively early, at the age of 22, when she first played Texas Hold’em. Under her brother’s influence, Duke entered the 1994 WSOP in Las Vegas and got at the 14th and 5th positions in the first two tournaments.

To date, Annie Duke has generate overall winnings of $4,270,548. She has one WSOP bracelet, won in the $3,000 Buy-in Omaha High-Low 8/OB in 2004, also winning a cash prize of $137,860.

Liv Boeree

Being one of the youngest female poker players to date, Liv Boeree is also one of the most promising female UK players to the global poker arena. The British, was first introduced to the poker industry in 2005 when she got selected as one of the five contestants for the Ultimatepoker.com Showdown reality TV show. At that time, she was coached by some of the most successful poker players of all times – Phil Hellmuth, Annie Duke and Dave Ulliott, and after the TV show was over, Boerree started to regularly participate in various live poker sessions.

Over the years, Liv Boeree has made a great progress, generating total winnings of $3,551,241 to date. The 32-year-old player has been climbing up and taking part in various poker championships and tournaments. It was back in 2010 when she won the European Poker Tour in Sanremo and became the third woman which has ever won an EPT title, taking home a prize of €1,250,000.

Currently, Boeree is part of Team PokerStars Pro. In February last year she was announced as the “The London Royals” Team Manager.
