The leading gambling software provider Playtech confirmed that that it has appointed Mr. Alex Latner, a long-time Berwin Leighton Paisner client relationship partner, at the position of General Counsel. Isle of Man-based company also revealed that BLP is to remain as an advisor to the gambling software supplier, but their partnership is to be handled by two corporate partners, named Benjamin Lee and Gareth Jones.
Mr. Latner takes over the position of General Counsel in succession of David McLeish, who left the software provider at the beginning of 2016 after spending more than three years occupying this role at the company. Now Alex Latner will be subordinated to the Chief Executive of Playtech Mor Weizer. He will be put in charge of a team consisting of 13 lawyers and admin staff.
As mentioned above, Alex Latner has a long professional experience in BLP, where he started working in 1998. Two years later, in 2000 he joined the corporate finance department. He became partner in 2008 and has worked as an advisor of Isle of Man-based software supplier since 2005.
The gambling software supplier has been using the advisory competences of Mr. Latner through different periods of its development and through important periods of the industry.
The newly-hired General Counsel commented on the appointment, sharing that Playtech reached another important stage of its continued growth and development over the last few years. According to the company’s new General Counsel, this growth would further take the gambling software provider to new challenges for the entire team of the company.
Playtech has made several important announcements since the beginning of 2017. Only a few days ago the company revealed its trading update for its 2016 results, as well as a change in its directorate structure. In addition, the leader in providing qualitative and reliable gambling content announced that it is to launch a special Live Dealer Studio in Romania to expand its reach and consolidate its market presence in Europe. This step comes to meet the great demand of local companies in the regulated markets of Eastern Europe. The appointment of its new General Counsel comes at a time when the company eyes further expansion to reach new customers worldwide and provide them with high-quality content.
