The UK gambling regulator has suspended the operating licences of a couple of gambling companies for alleged violations.
On July 7th, the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) announced its decision to suspend the operating permit of Martin Henry Bailey as the company is experiencing a regulatory review under s116 of the Gambling Act of 2005. The probe follows concerns that the company’s activities may have been carried out in violation of the gambling laws. Furthermore, the country’s gambling watchdog also said that the operator may not have offered its services in accordance with its licence conditions and it may be unfit to continue offering the services it was permitted to under the conditions of the licence.
As a result, the UK Gambling Commission has decided to suspend the company’s operating licence No.000841-N-102895-012 under the provisions of section 118(2) of the Gambling Act. The gambling watchdog announced that the operating licence suspension of Martin Henry Bailey takes immediate effect.
The UK gambling regulator made it clear to the company that during the period when its licence is suspended, it is expected to focus on providing transparent and fair treatment to its consumers. Furthermore, the UKGC said that the licence suspension does not prevent the company from paying out the customers’ winnings that were generated before the suspension took place.
PlayereFT Limited Gets Operating Licence Suspended for Failing to Integrate with GAMSTOP
Martin Henry Bailey is not the only gambling company in the UK that has gotten its operating permit suspended since the beginning of July.
Several days ago, the UK Gambling Commission said it has started an investigation under s116 of the Gambling Act of 2005 into PlayerFT Limited, trading as Fiveyards. As revealed by the gambling watchdog, the review follows concerns that the gambling operator’s activities may have been carried out in violation of its permit. The UKGC also noted that PlayerFT Limited may be unsuitable to keep its permit to offer the licensed gambling activities, and that it has been offering its services in a way that is inconsistent with the objectives included in its operating licence.
At the time the suspension was officially announced, the UKGC also noted that it does not prevent the operator from providing its customers with access to their user accounts on its website and withdrawing their funds. Players would also be able to contact PlayerFT Limited via its website. Furthermore, the suspension of the gambling company’s permit No.056717-R-332721-001 takes immediate effect under section 118(2) of the Gambling Act. The decision was made by the gambling regulatory body as a direct result of the company’s failure to integrate with GAMSTOP, the national multi-operator self-exclusion scheme.
At the time when the UKGC addressed the gambling company following the suspension, it reminded the operator that during the course of its licence suspension, it is still expected to treat its customers fairly. PlayerFT Limited would also have to keep its consumers fully informed of any developments during the review that may affect them.
