Following its deal of becoming the exclusive online sports betting and online casino provider for the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, William Hill made its official debut in Michigan. The two companies that have joined forces launched their first sportsbook based at Turtle Creek Casino and Hotel in the state of Michigan.
The CEO of Grand Traverse Resort and Casino Michael Schrader reported that the company is pleased to be working with the best in the online casino and sportsbook industry. They decided to trust William Hill as it is capable of providing the best sportsbook experience in the state of Michigan. Schrader also shared their plans of launching an online gaming and betting platform as soon as Michigan regulations allow it to happen.
The chairman of the National Indian Gaming Association Ernest Stevens Jr cut the ribbon on the grand opening ceremony. To mark the beginning of the Onyx sportsbook operation, the first bet was made by none other than the NBA superstar Rick Mahorn.
Right next to the table games and slots machines at Turtle Creek Casino, there are two ticket windows as well as two kiosks. The sportsbook also provides 20 high-definition TV screens that will broadcast sporting events. To fully immerse themselves in the sportsbook experience, visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy food and beverages as well as some fresh air on the outdoor patio.

Onyx sportsbook will operate Monday through Thursday, from noon to midnight. Meanwhile, the operation hours for Friday and Saturday are from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., and from 10 a.m to midnight on Sundays. The kiosks will be open during the Turtle Creek Casino hours between 7 a.m. and 3 a.m.

With the opening of the Michigan sportsbook, William Hill is now offering sports betting in a total of 13 states. William Hill’s vice presidents of strategy and business development Dan Shapiro announced that this is just the first part of the union with the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. The partnership is planned to expand with a mobile sports betting platform as well as an online casino. That is, of course, once the state of Michigan permits online casino gambling.
Shapiro also shared that the launch of the Onyx sportsbook by William Hill is a great way to begin the NFL season and he is sure that this will be the new favorite location for numerous sports fans based in Northern Michigan.
