Dan Stanway emerged victorious from the 2016 Genting Poker Series’ final leg in Sheffield. The player took home a guaranteed prize pool’s portion of £31,700 after outlasting the rest of the competitors in the £440 Buy-in No Limit Hold’em – Main Event.
The event put an end to this year’s Genting Poker Series, gathering a total of 301 participants, who also made it the best-attended poker main event in 2016. A total of 18 stops are scheduled in the 2017 Genting Poker Series championship, but the dates are still to be officially revealed.
The city of Sheffield hosted the event for the last time this year, with only fifteen players who started the final day of the competition. However, the final table was formed only a couple of hours later.
The first player to leave the final table of the Genting Poker Series in Sheffield was Renbing Ren. The rest of the players got eliminated one by one, until only three of them were left around the final table. Then, Bryan Moran exited the competition in third place, leaving the last two competitors standing. At this stage of the game, it was Arren Khan who got the chip lead with 5,100,000 in chips against 2,400,000 in chips held by Stanway. Unfortunately for Khan, Stanway managed to push his way to the top and won an enormous pot of 7 million in chips. A few hands later, he Dan Stanway was proclaimed as the 2016 Genting Poker Series last leg’s champion.
This is not the only first place ranking occupied by Dan Stanway in 2016. At the beginning of August, he won the £550 Buy-in No Limit Hold’em – High Roller tournament in Nottingham. Only a few days earlier, the also emerged victorious from the No Limit Hold’em DTD 125 event at the 2016 Dusk Till Dawn Recurring Tournaments in Nottingham.
With Dan Stanway occupying the first position in the ranking, Arren Khan finished as a runner-up, getting a consolation prize of £20,450. Bryan Moran remained on the third place, winning a cash portion estimated to £14,100.
The fourth position of the ranking was occupied by Liam Batey, followed by Adam Daniel. Sam Mather got sixth, while Nish Hindocha remained on the seventh place. The eighth and ninth positions were taken by Aqeel Butt and Renbing Ren, respectively.
