Stephen Chidwick is a well-recognized player within the international poker community. Over the past several years, he has made a name for himself for both his live and online accomplishments.
His regular appearances at final tables of EPT tournaments are particularly worth being paid attention to. Said otherwise, if there has been an EPT poker festival, no matter in which part of Europe, Chidwick has been there and has been gracing at least one or two final tables throughout said festival. Europe’s largest poker tour (as well as other PokerStars-sponsored events in different other parts of the world) is set to become history in few days, making room for the PokerStars Championship series, so it is to be seen how the UK player will perform in the newly introduced format.
Chidwick is one of his home country’s most profitable poker pros. His live tournament earnings currently stand at $6,428,091, an enviable amount speaking of poker skills, consistency, and excellent composure. What is more, playing on PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, partypoker, and other popular online card rooms, the player has accumulated more than $4.8 million in online winnings.
Turning back to his performance in live tournaments, Chidwick took 15th place in the Global Poker Index following the ranking’s latest update. He has gained a total of 3,692.71 points over the past three years. Here it is important to note that the GPI ranks players based on their finishes in live tournaments over six six-month periods, or three calendar years. A look in the GPI chart for the UK shows that Chidwick has the most points among his countrymen and women for said period.
Most recently, the poker professional gained 306.89 points for turning a €5,200 buy-in fee for a No-Limit Hold’em Turbo 6-Handed event into a first-place payout of €46,560. That happened late in October during the EPT Season 13’s Malta stop.
The High Roller and Super High Roller events held at Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas have been a major draw for top poker players. Being a self-respecting top poker player, Chidwick is a frequent participant in those. In October, finished 3rd in two such tournaments, collecting more than $450,000 in these. First, he scored a third-place finish in a $25,000 buy-in High Roller for $268,748 in prize money and 329.83 GPI points. Two days later, the player took 3rd place in a $50,000 Super High Roller at the gambling venue, scooping a payout of $194,400 and 254.16 points for his GPI score.
In June, Chidwick finished 2nd in one such Aria event, facing none other but high roller meister Fedor Holz heads-up. The UK player’s share of the $25,000 tournament amounted to $235,188 and he also added 324.62 GPI points to his score.
A sixth-place finish in the EPT Season 12 Grand Final €100,000 Super High Roller for €378,750 and 208.50 points was also among Chidwick’s notable accomplishments this year. In-the-money finishes in the WPT L.A. Poker Classic $10,000 Championship and the PCA $5,300 Main Event further boosted the player’s poker bankroll as well as his GPI score.
Actually, the past year has been Chidwick’s most successful in terms of live poker winnings earned. The player has collected the total amount of $2,056,834 since January, cashing in 31 of the world’s major poker tournaments.
