The Racing and Digital division of the leading pools and tote gaming supplier and operator Sportech Plc revealed a newly-inked contract with Tote Ireland, which has been awarded after a fierce competition over the bidding process. The deal comes as part of the company’s strategy to boost and boster the range of pari-mutuel betting services and technologies that have been used by the 26 horse racing tracks of Tote Ireland in the country.
The new contract between the two parties has an initial five-year term, but there are also five one-year options, too.
The President of Sportech Racing and Digital Andrew Gaughan shared that it was a great pleasure for everyone at the company to know that Tote Ireland was still flourishing after so many years in collaborative work. He also revealed that the entire team of Sportech’s division was very glad with the fact that the services and technologies provided were given such a warm welcome by Tote Ireland. According to Mr. Gaughan, this was a great opportunity for Sportech Racing and Digital, especially considering the highly-competitive environment it had been working in.
The collaboration between the two companies dates back to 1999, when Sportech first started to provide Tote Ireland with its services and technologies. The latter is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Horse Racing Ireland and currently operates a Totalisator and a number of racecourses in the Republic of Ireland. Since the companies joined forces for the first time, one of the major operational centres of Sportech in Ireland was responsible for providing operations and support.
Under the newly-signed agreement between the companies, the Quantum System of Tote Ireland, which is currently considered as the most popular pari-mutuel betting system, will be upgraded by Sportech. After the upgrade, the system is planned to provide local punters with a great number of features and functionalities. Sportech will continue to offer its customers its enhanced system operations and hosting services through its US-based Global Quantum Data and Operations Centre.
The company will also be engaged in activities related to maintenance and support on a daily basis of the equipment used at the racetracks of its Irish partner. These activities are included in a special agreement concerning maintenance, logistics and service.
Tote Ireland’s Chief Executive Officer Tim Higgins confirmed of the new contract, saying that Tote Ireland had a long-lasting business relationship with both Sportech and their Ireland-based unit, describing the collaboration between the two parties as a productive one. He said that Tote Ireland were impatient to expand the services provided to their players. He also explained that the company had identified a number of objectives, including enhancing its results in its system operations, as well as in on-site logistics.
