NetBet Becomes the First UK Betting Operator to Implement Bitcoin

The online bookmaker NetBet which specialises in sports betting operations has officially revealed that it will make Bitcoin one of the payment processing methods accepted on their sports betting website and specialised casino products.

NetBet is currently among the leading gambling operators on the territory of the UK. The company was rumoured to have started its consideration for adding Bitcoin to its accepted payment methods after the gambling operator Sportsbet.io which payment system is based on Bitcoin only had reported successful results in July. The operator itself revealed that it has made the decision to implement Bitcoin among its accepted payment methods in order to meet the expectations of the constantly increasing customer base interested in using digital currency in the country.

One of the NetBet official representatives – Alexandre Mangaud – commented on the upcoming integration, saying that the bookmaker had been reviewing various digital currencies for a while. In addition, Mangaud revealed that the company’s customer base was increasing on a regular basis, which was one of the main reasons why NetBet had decided to expand the payment methods offered to its users.

The company’s spokesman also explained that the sports betting and casino gaming provider had worked in collaboration with its payment processing partners, since Bitcoin was relatively new to the regulated gambling market in Europe and the betting operator wanted to make sure that the new payment method addition would correspond to the regulatory requirements set by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC).

Bitcoin is a brand that is currently owned and operated by Bitpay, which is to help NetBet for the integration and acceptance of the payment method on the bookmaker’s website. This will make NetBet the first licensed gaming operator on the territory of the UK that is to accept the virtual currency provided by Bitpay. Thanks to the integration of Bitcoin by the bookmaker, the customers of NetBet will be given the opportunity to use the payment method while processing money transactions to and from their accounts.

Over the last few years, Bitcoin has turned into a more mainstream currency. As a result, up to date, Bitcoin payment method is accepted by several key retailers, including Microsoft, Dell, Expedia, Virgin Galacting, and now NetBet is to join the company in the UK.
