The online gambling operator 888 has become the next to launch a sportsbook service in New Jersey, at a time when UK gambling companies have been aimed at expanding their presence in the country to take advantage of the newly-opened sports betting market.
The 888sport service has been released in the state in collaboration with Kambi, which has been serving as the company’s sportsbook provider in regulated markets across the world.
The company has rolled out its 888sport brand in the state of New Jersey and has reiterated its willingness to launch it in other US states over the upcoming months. The move comes after the US Supreme Court’s decision to lift the federal ban on sports betting operations by striking down the provisions of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) of 1992 and follows the launch of a number of sportsbook services provided by UK gambling operators in New Jersey.
This has made 888 the latest company to enter the increasingly crowded sports betting market in the US to expand its presence worldwide. Apart from the newly-unveiled sportsbook service, the 888 brand already has both online casino and online poker platforms functioning in the state of New Jersey.
“The launch of 888sport.com in New Jersey is a major milestone for the company in our ongoing expansion across the regulated US online gaming market and provides 888 with a unique and truly multi-product proposition in what is currently the largest regulated US state.” – Itai Frieberger, CEO of 888.
Six More Gambling Companies Have Launched Sportsbook in NJ
The 888 sportsbook service which has been already launched in the state of New Jersey offers both traditional and in-play betting on a variety of sports. The service also offers a responsive and intuitive interface in order to make it easier for customers to place their wagers, with its look very much resembling the 888 online casino product.
Apart from a regular web version of the sports betting service, 888 sportsbook application is currently available for Android devices, with a release for iOS expected soon.
Currently, there are six other sports betting applications operating in the state of New Jersey, apart from the one that has been just rolled out by the 888 brand. First, it was the DraftKings Sportsbook which was launched in the state, followed by playMGM and SugarHouse Sportsbook. Most recently, Paddy Power Betfair rolled out a sports betting application with its US affiliate FanDuel, and another UK gambling giant – William Hill – followed. Caesars launched its sports book then, to become the sixth gambling company to operate a sportsbook service in New Jersey.
The roll-out of the new sportsbook service strengthens the overall position of the 888 brand on the territory of the US, especially considering the fact that the operator is already present in the states of Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey.
