The beginning of the week saw the WPTDeepStacks Maryland Main Event find its winner, with Jason Eisele taking over the title. Eisele managed to top the overall player field of 389 entries in order to take home the first-place prize, estimated to $108,921. The winner’s monetary prize also includes a $3,000 package to the season-ending championship event of the WPTDeepStacks.
The latest tournament event winning has helped Eisele boost his overall live earnings to $258,508. Apart from that, the first-place monetary prize of $108,921 has become the best live cash ever generated by the player in his career so far. The previous best live tournament score of Jason Eisele amounted to $73,000.
The final table of the WPTDeepStacks Maryland Main Event was formed on March 26th. At the time, it was Scott Hall who got the lead, with this being his second consecutive WPTDeepStacks final table.
The gameplay at the final table of the event started at a quick pace, with Yoon Cheon eliminating Duane Hunton, and shortly after that, Patrick Lacey, too. The players got eliminated one by one, and by the time Kevin Grabel was busted in fifth place, Eisele was at the bottom of the pack.
With three players left, it Eisele was once again last in chips, but he remained calm, eventually eliminating Yoon Cheon at the third position.
Heads-Up Play and Final Table Ranking
Eisele managed to close the gap between him and Hall with the elimination of Cheon, so at the beginning of the heads-up play, Halls only had a minor lead of 4.96 million in chips to Eisele’s 4.79 million in chips. Then, about 90 minutes later, it was over. Eisele took down the event and emerged as the victor, leaving Hall behind on the second place.
With Jason Eisele occupying the first position in the ranking, overcoming the competition of his 388 rivals and scooping the first-place prize of $108,921, Scott Hall remained at the runner-up place, taking home a total of $73,962 for his efforts. The third place was taken by Yoon Cheon, who was granted with a prize amounting to $47,670.
Mark Benardo got fourth, followed by Kevin Grabel. The sixth position in the ranking got occupied by Arkaiy Tsinis, while Scott Blumenfeld got seventh. The eighth and ninth positions were occupied by Patrick Lacey and Duane Hunton, respectively.
With the WPTDeepStacks Maryland coming to an end, it is time for the next stop of the circuit which is to hit Northern California’s Thunder Valley Casino Resort. The first event of the festival is set to start on March 28th. WPTDeepStacks Thunder Valley Main Event is scheduled to kick off on April 5th, featuring three starting flights, a buy-on of $1,100 and a guaranteed prize pool estimated to $500,000.
