Flutter Entertainment announced its decision to tie 10% of annual bonuses for its employees to initiatives aimed at helping the prevention of problem gambling.
At the beginning of the week, the company, which owns some popular gambling brands such as Paddy Power, Betfair, and FanDuel, and is currently among the largest online gambling operators on a global scale, revealed that the measure was part of the package that is aimed at getting 75% of active online customers to use at least one of the safer gambling tools offered by the company by 2030. This would be a considerable increase from around 35%, at a time when Flutter Entertainment is facing more and more public pressure over gambling addiction.
The online gambling operator, which also owns the Sky Bet and PokerStars brands, currently provides its customers with the chance to implement both deposit and loss limits on their user accounts. The company’s customers are also given the opportunity to ban themselves from using only certain products or the gambling websites of Flutter in full for a period of up to 6 months.
Peter Jackson, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, said in a statement that in 2021, the gambling giant further strengthened its safer gambling measures on all verticals through an investment worth more than £45 million. He now noted that Flutter Entertainment’s Play WEll strategy is to now materially enhance the group’s global customer protections, as it is aimed to serve as a framework for the gambling industry as a whole.
Three Major Objectives Unveiled as Flutter Entertainment’s 2030 Sustainability Measures
As mentioned above, the Ireland-based gambling group has unveiled a task of achieving three major objectives as part of its 2030 sustainability strategy, called the “Positive Impact Plan”.
The gambling group is willing to build on its previous achievements in target areas and sustainability in order to bring the measure’s positive impact to a maximum. On the other hand, such a move would help it leverage its global scale to support a variety of local initiatives that have a positive impact on the operator’s customers, employees and the communities it operates in. As revealed by Flutter Entertainment, the gambling company will help its customers play well via the aforementioned initiative known under the same name and will enhance the ability of its workforce to work better and cooperate with local communities by setting goals to challenge and expand its business.
Mr Peter Jackson confirmed that the gambling group remains committed to contributing positively to its customers, colleagues and the communities it operates in. According to him, the newly-announced “Positive Impact Plan” builds on the foundations laid by each of the gambling giant’s units, leveraging its global scale and placing the company in a position for more meaningful changes. As part of the company’s objective, Flutter Entertainment aims to have 75% of its active online users taking advantage of its Play Well tools by 2030, while also investing efforts towards encouraging 50% of the users to take advantage of more tools by 2026.
