The first event of the inaugural high-stakes poker tournament series Poker Masters came to an end only a few hours ago, seeing the American poker pro Nick Schulman as the crowned winner.

Who Is Nick Schulman?
Nick Schulman has been one of the most popular and respected contemporary poker players. The victory in the Poker Masters series boosted his total live winnings to more than $10,100,000, despite the fact that the cash portion won by the American is far from his best one to date – an amount of $2,167,500 generated at the time he won the $10,290 WPT No Limit Hold’em of the 2005 World Poker Finals, Mashantucket. The prize pool portion won at the Poker Masters series is the second-largest cash Schulman has won in his career so far.
Schulman is not only $918,000 richer now, but also managed to take the early lead in the Poker Masters competition. As previously reported by Casino Guardian, the series will grant the player who generates the highest total winnings throughout the five events with the special Poker Masters Purple Jacket.
Poker Masters Event #1 Day 2
The first day of the Poker Masters Event #1 saw the overall player feld of 51 entries being reduced to the final table of seven at its end. Day 2 of the event saw Matt Hyman return as the chip leader with a stack of $1,460,000 chips.
It did not take long for the players to see the start of a pretty heated-up gameplay. After Adrian Mateos became the first one to be eliminated, it took a while until the next player went bust. At the end, Matt Hyman and Nick Schulman were the only two standing around the final table.
The two players entered a fierce heads-up battle, at the beginning of which Schulman got the chip lead with a stack of 4.2 million chips in comparison to a Hyman’s stack of 2.295 million chips. Over the heads-up play, the two of them swapped the chip lead a few times, but eventually it was Nick Schulman who took down the event, getting one step closer to winning the Poker Masters Purple Jacket.
With Nick Schulman emerging as winner of the Poker Masters Event#1, taking home a monetary prize of $918,000, the runner-up position was occupied by Matt Hyman who started the second day of the event as a chip leader. Hyman was granted with a prize of $561,000. Stefan Schillhabel from Germany took the third place in the ranking, winning a consolation prize of $306,000.

The sixth position was occupied by the last German player who entered the final table – Koray Aldemir. The Spanish player Adrian Mateos ranked seventh, while Daniel Negreanu finished at the bottom of the final table ranking, scooping a prize pool monetary portion of $102,000.
