The inaugural Nordic Poker Championships is to be hosted by partypoker LIVE in December 2017. The poker Championship tournament is to take place in the Czech Republic’s capital city from December 14th to 18th, offering a massive guaranteed prize pool of €1 million.
The first-ever Nordic Poker Champions is to kick off as part of a series of regional Championship events that are to be hosted by partypoker LIVE. The brand is to also host the German Poker Championships in a few days, at Kings’ Casino Rozvadov as of August 6th, with a guaranteed prize pool of €1 million. Then, the Canadian Poker Championships is scheduled to start on September 8th, offering a guaranteed prize amounting to CA$2 million.
As mentioned above, the Nordic Poker Championships is set to start on December 14th at the Grandior Hotel Prague. The casino venue has frequently been home to world-class poker events.
The tournament is to provide only poker players who have Nordic passports or reside in a Nordic country with the chance to join the Championships. Such players will be given the chance to win the €2,200 buy-in or even win a free flight over a number of online qualifiers hosted by partypoker.
The global poker brand revealed that the first 50 players who qualify online for the tournament will be given a free return flight to Prague from their home country. The designated main airports where the return flights would be available are Oslo, Helsinki, Copenhagen, the Arlanda airport in Stockholm and Iceland’s Keflavik International airport.
Johnny Lodden, a 32-year-old poker pro sponsored by partypoker, confirmed that he would be present at the event. The player, whose live earnings to date exceed $2.6 million, said that the Nordic Poker Championships would be give great opportunity for Nordic-originating poker players to qualify online for an event of such a scale.
Two starting flights are to be featured by the inaugural Nordic Poker Championships. Day 1A of the tournament is scheduled for December 14th, and Day 1B is set for the next day, December 15th. December 16th and 17th are to see the second and third day of the event, respectively. The Nordic Poker Championships’ final day is to take place on December 18th.
A great variety of online satellite events are to immediately precede the tournament in order to offer players with different bankrolls join the game in the capital city of the Czech Republic. partypoker players will be given access to these satellite events on October 2nd.
John Duthie, President of partypoker LIVE, commented that the city of Prague had a great festive atmosphere in December, and the Nordic players who would take part in the tournament would certainly add to that. He also shared his expectations to see a lot of the big names to be present in Prague in December, but he also described the event as a great opportunity for recreational Nordic players, too.
