Yesterday night saw Day 3 of the 2017 WSOP Main Event end, with the money bubble being burst over the last official hand of the game. In addition, a number of players managed to surpass the 1,000,000-chip mark over this year’s edition of the World Series of Poker Main Event Day 3.
Also, at the end of the night, the US poker player Patrick Lavecchia emerged as a chip leader, with a total of 1,552,000 chips on his account. Lavecchia has a narrow lead over the Portugal player Pawel Brzeski, who holds a total of 1,546,000 in chips. The French Antoine Saout is third, with 1,529,000 in chips.
Current chip leader Lavecchia has only one previous monetary prize generated in the WSOP back in 2009. At the time, he managed to generate a little more than $3,000 in a $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em event.
Day 3 of the 2017 WSOP Main Event saw a players field of 2,572 participants come back from two separate Day 2 flights. The battle for survival was hard, and most of the entrants struggled to stay in the game, considering the fierce competition. Others, however, managed to make a great progress over the day, soaring in their positions and expanding their bankrolls.
It was undoubtedly a long night, with the money bubble finally burst at about 1:15 AM with Quan Zhou and Roger Campbell busting on the same hand. Then, the two of them were dealt into a special level of play, a race-off flip, in order for one of them to be determined as the bubble boy. The flip was won by Quan Zhou who officially became the 1,085-place finisher in this year’s edition of the WSOP Main Event, leaving him with a $10,000 seat into the 2018 WSOP Main Event as a consolation prize.
The joint burstout of Campbell and Zhou put an end to Day 3 play, with the remaining 1,084 players expected to come back for Day 4 of the event, knowing that they have already finished in the money.
One of the most-commented chip leaders at the beginning of the Main Event’s Day 2, Mickey Craft, continued his good run over the third day of the game. He managed to bag up a total of 1,345,000 in chips at the end of Day 3 and is considered as one of the competitors who have every chance to be one of the players who are most likely to win the title. Commenting on the past day of the Main Event, Craft shared that Day 3 had started off in a fast-pace and emotional play.
A quick recapitulation shows that about 60% of the 2017 WSOP Main Event Day 3 survivors were eliminated during that day, with some of the most popular poker names among them. On the other hand, other popular player managed to get through Day 3, such as Tom McEvoy, Johnny Chan, Brian Rast, Eddy Saat, Sam Grafton, etc.
