US player with current residence in Canada Dan Smith managed to keep his position after the latest update of the Global Poker Index (GPI) Ranking. Smith remained on the fifth place of the GPI for a second consecutive week. He has climbed as high as the first position of the ranking.
The 27-year-old poker professional has all-time winnings estimated to $15,127,185. His live best cash so far amounts to $3,078,974. This year, the young player has taken part in a number of poker tournaments throughout 2016.
The latest tournament Dan Smith has taken part in was the World Poker Tour (WPT) Five Diamond World Poker Classic that took place at the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas. Smith played in a total of three events within the tournament. First, he joined the No Limit Hold’em #12 on December 3rd and emerged as a winner, scooping a cash portion of $257,097.
Then, in the period between December 5th and 10th, he took part in the $10,400 Buy-in Five Diamond Man Event, ranking 30th and taking home a prize of $38,364. On December 9th, the player participated in the $25,000 Buy-in No Limit Hold’em #21 High Roller event and managed to get 7th. The total winnings generated by Smith over the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic amount to $387,621.
Over the year 2016, the young American has taken part in several Aria High Roller tournaments. At the beginning of June, Dan Smith ranked 4th in the $50,000 Buy-in Super High Roller 8 at Aria Resort & Casino, scooping a prize of $175,640. On June 26th, the player entered the Aria High Roller Knockout competition, winning the $31,000 Buy-in No Limit Hold’em event for $285,200.
Later, in July 2016, Dan Smith took part in the Aria High Roller 37 tournament, joining the $25,000 buy-in event and ranking as a runner-up, getting a guaranteed prize pool portion estimated to $264,900. After a few ia Higmonths, in the middle of November he entered another Aria High Roller tournament, winning it and scooping a massive prize of $312,200.
Of course, Dan Smith could not miss one of the largest poker events this year – the 47th Edition of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), achieving great results. First, from June 8th to 10th he entered in the Dealers Choice 6-Handed Championship and ranked at the 8th position. Then, at the beginning of July, the player played in two more events of the 47th WSOP.
He first joined the $25,000 Buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller and got to the third place, winning a prize of $487,361. Then, he took part in the $111,111 Buy-in No Limit Hold’em High Roller for One Drop and emerged as a runner-up, generating the largest live cash prize in his career, amounting to $3,078,974.
Earlier this year, in May, the player entered two events of the EPT-12-FPS-6Grand Final schedule. He won the No Limit Hold’em – Turbo Super Knockout 8Max, and the overall winnings generated by Smith in the two events amounted to €156,760.
