The emblematic Hippodrome Casino will kindly host the first PokerStars Festival for 2017, as announced by the poker brand. The PokerStars Festival London event is scheduled to take place from January 22nd to January 29th, 2017, featuring a number of exciting poker (and non-poker) tournaments.
Earlier this year, PokerStars revealed that it would merge its regional poker tours into Championship and Festival events to be taking place in different thrilling destinations around the world. The PokerStars Festival New Jersey was the first such event. It ran from October 29th through November 6th and local player Jason Acosta won its $1,100 Main Event.
The PokerStars Festival London will feature as many as 22 different events, some of which satellites securing seats into the larger tournaments. The £275 buy-in PokerStars Super Deep is set to be the first major tournament on the festival’s schedule. The three-day event will take place from January 23rd to January 25th.
Every self-respecting poker festival has a high roller tournament and the PokerStars Festival London will be no exception to this general rule. A two-day £2,200 High Roller will engage interested players on January 24th-25th.
Next comes the Main Event, the festival’s highlight. It is scheduled for January 25th-29th. The flagship tournament will feature a guaranteed prize pool of £400,000.
Non-poker players will be able to enter a £120 StarsFun Roulette Tournament on January 26th, a £120 StarsFun Blackjack Tournament on January 27th, and a £120 StarsFun Craps Tournament on January 28th. All three will be played at Lola’s Underground Casino, the Hippodrome’s underground gambling space that recreates the iconic gambling venue’s 1900s under stage in a highly appealing and authentic manner.
The PokerStars Cup, a £330 buy-in event, is set to take place on January 28th-29th. January 29th will feature two more exciting tournaments – a £170 No-Limit Hold’em Ladies Event and a UKIPT Edition Turbo Deepstack with a £220 buy-in.
The Hippodrome Casino is all anticipation to welcome players from all around the UK and the rest of the world as the PokerStars Festival London’s license holder and operator. The gambling venue previously hosted the London stops on the UK and Ireland Poker Tour’s schedule. After six seasons of touring around the UK and Ireland, the UKIPT is now making room for its successor. It is yet to be seen whether the new festival will manage to achieve its predecessor’s success, hopefully double it.
