Maurice Hawkins emerged as a winner of his third World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Main Event of 2016. His latest victory made him the only player in the history of the Circuit so far who has won a total of eight gold rings and three Circuit Main Events.
To get on top of the list, Hawkins managed to outlast 260 other players and win the event which took place at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. The victory brought him his eight career Circuit gold ring, which was also his first ring in the season. As mentioned above, the victory was also the third career Circuit Main Event win in 2016.
At the end of the season, Maurice Hawkins has a total of four Circuit gold rings won so far in 2016. In April this year he took part in the tournament in Council Bluffs, Iowa to win the fifth gold Circuit ring in his career in the Monster Stack Event. Then, Hawkins travelled to the next stop of the Circuit – Harrah’s Cherokee. First, he took part in the preliminary event, occupying the runner-up position, but then he entered the Main Event just to defeat 1,007 other players and win the seventh gold ring in his career. And now, several months later, Mawrice Hawkins took down the Main Event of the Palm Beach Kennel Club (PBKC), winning not only his eighth gold ring, but also a cash prize of $95,921.
This victor brings the player’s career earning generated in Circuit events to more than $1 million. Apart from the gold ring award and the lion’s share of the guaranteed prize pool, the victory also guaranteed Hawkins a direct pass to the Global Casino Championship for a second consecutive year.
