The online gambling operator Unibet Group that specialises in offering casino, poker sports and live betting, bingo, scratch cards and soft games, has announced its quarterly results. The company, which headquarters are in Malta but also operates under licenses in several other countries and territories such as the UK, Gibraltar, France, Italy, Denmark, Australia, Estonia and Denmark, has revealed a record performance over the third fiscal quarter.
The Chief Executive Officer of Unibet Group Henrik Tjärnström commented on the company’s results over the period and explained that the strong performance had spread across all brands of the company. He revealed that the company and its brands were able to retain the customers, which caused the high activity levels over the third fiscal quarter.
According to the report published on Unibet’s official website, the company posted a 65% increase year-on-year in its gross winnings revenue which amounted to £142.3 million over the third quarter. In comparison, the online gambling operator’s result over the same period a year earlier amounted to £86.1 million.
Moreover, the Chief Executive Officer of Unibet revealed that the gross winnings revenue generated by the mobile channel of the company more than doubled their size over the period. The emphasized on the fact that all brands of the online gambling operator had more than satisfactory performance over the third financial quarter.
On the other hand, the underlying earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) over the period rose by 73% from £19.6 million in 2015 to £33.9 million in the third fiscal quarter of the current financial year. The profit before tax generated by Unibet’s operations amounted to £24.8 million in comparison to the £14.4 million reported a year ago. The positive results are considered to be due to the stability of the company and its brand’s strong performance over the period.
In addition to the massive increase in the online gambling operator’s gross winnings revenue, EBITDA and profit before tax, the number of active users also rose. The active customers of Unibet Group reached 1,067,910 over the third quarter. This was a significant increase in comparison to the 671,635 active users reported over the same quarter in 2015. The number of registered customers also increased from 13.2 million in 2015 Q3 to 15.8 million in 2016 Q3.
The results of the company in the period from January to September 2016 also reflected Unibet’s strong performance. The gross winnings revenue over the nine months ended in September increased from £242.7 million in 2015 to £391.3 million. The company’s underlying EBITDA over the period rose from £53.7 million to £84.4 million in the first three quarters of the current fiscal year. Profit before tax rose from £40.9 million to £62.7 million.
