The team of PokerStars is to honour Chad Brown in a special Charity Event which is to be released over their live festival in New Jersey. The event is the third Chad Brown Memorial Charity Poker Tournament which is held on annual basis and is to begin on November 3rd. The tournament is aimed at raising some funds for the T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukaemia, Cancer and AIDS Research.
The tournament is to take place at the Atlantic City’s Resorts Casino Hotel, with the tournament being hosted by one of the most famous members of team PokerStars – Daniel Negreanu. The latter issued a special press release on the matter. He called Chad Brown a close friend and shared that he was happy to see so many people and poker brands from the entire country to join forces for such an amazing cause.
The special Memorial Charity Poker Tournament is scheduled to start at 20:00 on November 3rd. It features a buy-in of $200, 50% of which are planned to be granted to the T.J. Martel Foundation to which was supported by Chad Brown. The other 50% of every buy-in are to go to the tournament’s prize pool. According to the event’s rules, players will be given the chance to make a re-buy. Half of the money raised over the re-buys will also be granted to the Foundation.
Prizes that are featured in the event are a seat to the $5,000 Bahamas Main Event of PokerStars, an entry to WPT 500 event organised in 2017, a package for entering the $3,200 Aruba Main Event of the Players Poker Championship, as well as a $500 VIP WPT Experience. Other prizes, such as special training sessions and courses, qualifier packages and even a special poker table provided by Gorilla Gaming are also to be provided by the tournament organisers.
The event coordinator Jennifer Winter, who is also personally involved in the tournament organisation since she was a good friend of Chad Brown, shared her satisfaction with the fact that the Memorial Poker Tournament is to be held in Atlantic City. She said that the friends of Brown who lived on the East Coast and did not usually take part in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) would be able to pay their respects to him.
Chad Broun died in 2014 after suffering from liposarcoma, at the age of 52. After his death, he was awarded with a special WSOP Championship bracelet.
