The work on the next development stage of the Victoria Gate retail has already been in progress. As a result, it became clear that a new super casino is planned to set foot in Leeds in 2017.
A multi-million investment has been made in the casino venue that is expected to be the third largest casino in the country, with an overall capacity of 1,400 people. The Development arm of Global Gaming Ventures has unveiled plans for its new Victoria Gate Casino which is to be placed on top of the new John Lewis store. The casino is planned to be situated on a total of 50,000 square feet and would be the first “super casino” to set foot in the north regions of England and Scotland.
The Chief Executive Officer of Global Gaming Ventures Limited Andrew Herd commented on the casino that is to be open in the Victoria Gate, saying that the venue would be unique for the region of North England. According to him, the gambling and entertainment hub will attract customers not only from Leeds, but from the entire region and beyond, which on the other hand would bring further investments in the area.
The gaming and entertainment venue is to be set over three levels and will provide its visitors with the opportunity to choose not only from a great variety of traditional casino games, but will also provide wall-to-wall screens that would offer customers the chance to watch sport. Within the casino, there will also be two bars included, as well as a restaurant and a function space.
The new gaming hub in Leeds will be unique for the region in many ways. It will feature a special 100-seat poker room alongside 24 gaming tables. In addition, the casino will provide its customers with 80 electronic gaming terminals and 140 slot machines.
Over 200 full-time jobs will be created thanks to the scale of the venue, which is expected to be beneficial for local economy, as no less than 90% of the casino staff will be from within the city region.
The venue director Patrick Noakes commented on the future opening of the casino, saying that it would be one of the largest gaming hubs in Leeds and there would be absolutely no match for it in the region of Northern England. Moreover, he described as a unique high-class venue, as it would not offer gaming options to local customers, but also dining and entertainment, as well as sports action.
