The Poland player Jakub “Olorionek” Michalak emerged victorious from the EPT Malta Single-Day High Roller event. Michalak managed to outlast s total of 63 competitors and took home the prize of €178,403 after a three-way deal was made.
Single-day EPT High Roller event featured a buy-in of €10,200 and gathered a players base of 64 entrants, of which only the top 11 ones got paid for their participation. Twenty of the entrants, including some of the most successful poker players like Connor Drinan, Nick Petrangelo, Sam Greenwood, Daria Sammartino and Mikita Badziakouski, decided to re-buy in order to get another chance for winning the tournament’s trophy. The total prize pool that was accumulated over the event amounted to €814,800.
The gameplay was relatively quick, with some of the players who re-entered getting back in and out in too short of a time. After the 75-minute dinner break, only 17 players got back to the game. At this stage, the chip lead was held by Scott Seiver, who had 850,000 in chips. The Italian Rocco Palumbo followed, with 840,000 in chips and Pratyush Buddiga with 810,000.
At the time when there were only three players left around the final table, the game got heated up. Palumbo, Michalak and Carrel were the only ones left, with the British player holding the chip lead with 3.66 million. Jakub Michalav was second, with 2.95 million in chips, followed by Rocco Palumbo with 1.735 million. The players negotiated a three-way deal under the terms of which Carrel got the largest cash portion. The event’s trophy as well as an additional cash portion of €17,475.
Unfortunately for Charlie Carrel, his chances sharply declined and eventually, he got eliminated. After the last two players standing faced each other heads-up, it was Jakub Michalak who emerged as a winner.
With the Poland player finishing first, Rocco Palumbo took the runner-up position, getting a prize of €139,763 after the three-way deal was made. UK’s player Charlie Carrel remained third, taking home €170,754 for his participation. The fourth position was occupied by Orpen Kisacikoglu from Turkey, and Scott Seiver became fifth.
Bahzad Ahadpour got on the sixth place, followed by Pratyush Buddiga. The eighth position was occupied by Adrian Mateos from Spain, who got a prize estimated to €30,550. Morten Mortensen became ninth, and the tenth and eleventh place were occupied by Steve O’Dwyer and Diego Zeiter, respectively.
