Event #11 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller kicked off in Harrah’s Cherokee on August 14th and attracted a total of 107 entrants who accumulated a prize pool of $214,000. After two days of play, it was Brian Senie who triumphed and collected the second Circuit Ring in a High Roller event as well as the amount of $64,200 for his first place.
The winner came to North Carolina with the aim of taking part in the Global Casino Championship that kicked off last Tuesday. Senie is a professional poker player and this was the second Circuit ring in his career. He collected his first one in March when he won the Main Event held at Tbilisi Sports Palace, Georgia. The victory secured him a seat at the Global Casino Championship and that was the reason why he travelled to Cherokee last week.
As for his participation in the Global Casino Championship, Senie made it to Day 2, but then, he was eliminated at 10th place and given $23,262 for his efforts. As for his participation in the High Roller event, he was the Day 1 chip leader for most of the time, followed by Youngsoo Kim holding 128,500 in chips.
A big swing of chips occurred at the final table when they were five handed and Senie took the chip lead from Kim. During the three-handed play, Senie was holding 1,300,000, while the chips his two opponents were holding were almost equal.
David Hubbard became the bronze medalist in the competition. His elimination gave the start of a heads-up play between Kim and Senie. Kim took the runner-up position as well as the amount of $39,680 of the accumulated prize pool.
The winner commented on his latest accomplishment and said he was glad that he have scooped the top prize. Senie has recently married and the couple was planning to go to Croatia for two weeks. Senie and his wife got married, spent a few days in Croatia and then, Senie travelled to Cherokee to win the event.
The other notable players who took part in the event were Mark Dumonski who occupied the fourth position and collected the amount of $20,523.
Krzysztof Stybaniewicz, Marco Palacios, Thomas Brinley, Chun Law, Thomas Gray occupied 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th positions, respectively. Shawn Rice, Michael Monicatti and Abdoul Kazerouni were eliminated in 10th, 11th and 12th place and collected $4,470 each.
