A few days after his third place finish at the Global Casino Championship, held at Harrah’s Cherokee, Joshua Turner is back on track. He is among the participants at Event #10: $1,675 MAIN EVENT ($1,000,000 Guarantee). Turner not only made it to the money bubble but also has managed to secure a seat at the final table. When the event kicked off, there were as many as 804 entrants. However, at the end of Day 2, their number was narrowed down to 13.
Three days after collecting more than $150,000 for his third place in Global Casino Championship, Turner finished Day 2 of the Main Event with 2,080,000 chips, which made him the chip leader for the day and gave him a chance for a flying start of Day 3.
Turner was not the only notable Global Casino contender who took part in the Main Event, though. He is accompanied by David Aker, James Juvancic and Steven Snyder holding 900,000, 1,155,000 and 2,005,000 chips, respectively. Steven Snyder is currently second in chips. Except for Turner, Snyder is the only player holding more than 2 million in chips.
Russel Sullivan is fourth in chips holding 1,870,000, followed by Scott Stewart holding 1,680,000. The action unfolded pretty fast and players such as Ricardo Eyzaguierre were going from the bottom to the top of the chip board. Basically, no one was guaranteed a seat at the final table.
As many as 138 players made it to Day 2, but as mentioned above, there were 13 remaining at the end. Some of the chip leaders in Day 1 including Shawn Rice, BJ McBrayer, Tommy Ly, Kevin Davis did not make it to the money bubble.
The elimination of Roger Jones in 82nd place made it clear that the remaining players will get at least $3,003 each. Some of the notable players who made it to the money bubble but did not survive Day 2 were Johnny Landreth, the bracelet winner Chris Bell, Brad Albrinck, Sean Berrios, Cody Pack, John Holley who finished 78th, 55th, 43rd, 28th, 24th, and 20th, respectively.
As for the final 13 players, they will return at 12pm on Monday to play down to a winner. The one who triumphs at the Main Event secures a seat at the Global Casino Championship in 2017 as well as the amount of $240,000 of the accumulated prize pool.
