The latest update of the Global Poker Index leaderboard saw Fedor Holz on top for six weeks now with total score of 4,727.64 points. The American poker professional Jason Mercier has taken the runner-up position for a third week in a row now, while Nick Petrangelo has been left third for a second week.
This has been the third week when the 29-year-old poker pro has been occupying the second position of the GPI ranking with a total score of 4,339.09 points. Mercier has most recently won the 2016 GPI WSOP Player of the Year award after he managed to get a total of 2,195.57 points. Yet, no matter of the second position in the GPI leaderboard, the American has been known for reaching the first position in the ranking, and is expected to attack the leadership again.
Most recently, Jason Mercier has taken part in the $1,111 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Little One for One Drop Event of this year’s 47th WSOP that took place in the period from July 12th to July 16th at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. He ranked 470th from a total of 4,360 entries for the event with total earnings of $1,906.
Mercier did a lot better at the time of 2016 WSOP #51 Event, by ranking at the 36th position from 400 participants. He won an overall $18,925 and 170.54 points for the 2016 Player of the Year ranking.
Of course, the 47th edition of the WSOP was not the only poker series event the American took part in this year. In February, he participated in two events of the EPT – 12 – UKIPT – 5 in Dublin. Mercier ranked first from a total of 25 entries in the #51 No Limit Hold’em Hyperturbo event of the tournament and won €37,890. He also took part in the #54 No Limit Hold’em High roller – 8 Handed event, where he finished on the 18th position with total earnings of €21,530.
2016 was a great year for the 29-year-old Mercier thanks to his great performance at this year’s edition of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship. The player finished third in the #12 No Limit Hold’em $100,000 Challenge and got earnings of AU$602,700 and 313.46 points for his GPI ranking.
Also the the beginning of the year, he participated in the 2016 PCA, taking part in the #26 No Limit Hold’em – PCA Main Event and in the #103 No Limit Hold’em – 8-Handed Turbo Bounty event with total earnings of the two estimated to $42,040.
Currently, his all-time earnings amount to $17,382,987.
